Spiritus is the name for all services operating within the Anglican Community Services Commission (ACSC) which operates under a Diocesan Governance Canon defining its role in terms of Corporate Governance, Strategic Direction of the organization and the regulation of Management.

The Canon authorizes the ACSC to operate in the areas of community welfare, social justice, health, aged and community care.

The Commission is required to develop and submit to the Archbishop-in-Council for approval policies in the areas of:

  • The mission of the church and social justice;
  • A Christian response to the church’s social and political environment;
  • Planning and establishment of new care services;
  • Human, financial, technological and other resources; and
  • Governance, legal compliance and risk management.

All other policy matters and related authority are delegated to the Executive Director.

The Executive Team supports the role of the Executive Director, providing detailed Governance, formation of Operational Strategies, Management Policy and the implementation of agreed Organisational Strategy.

Oversight of compliance with legislation, Accreditation and our own Approved Policies are its major activities.

Financial regulation, both in terms of budgeting and reporting analysis is a further key responsibility.

The Executive Team is also charged with our fulfillment of Mission, the sustenance of our culture and assisting in the direction of resources to areas of need.
