Youth Support Services
Spiritus offers several programs which specialise in offering confidential support to young people and their families during difficult times.
Amend : assisting mothers end the need for drugs
The amend service is a home-based relapse prevention service for pregnant and parenting women who live in Brisbane or the Gold Coast and who find it difficult to access mainstream alcohol and drug treatment services. Participation is voluntary and free of charge.
Beenleigh Youth Accommodation Support Service
This program provides:
- family mediation and/or counselling to prevent youth homelessness;
- fully supported short term accommodation for 16-18 year olds;
- programs and workshops for young people and families;
- life skills to assist independence.
The Early Parent Centre : based in Inala.
- supports young parents under 25 years;
- social and peer support groups to prevent child abuse and neglect.
In-Sync : Based in Cleveland, this program provides support for families/youth (12-18) to prevent homelessness with:
- semi-independent medium term accommodation (6-12 months) for young people 15-17 years;
- living skills development.
Social Support Services Roma : services offered in Roma and Chinchilla
- supports young people at risk of disengaging from education/training;
- recruits, trains and supports foster carers (35-55 children in care);
- provides Mental Health Counselling;
- raising community awareness on issues related to mental illness.
- The Enable program's services are offered in Roma, St George, Mitchell, Injune, Miles and Surat.
- Working with those with a disability;
- Offering respite care.
St Mary’s Support and Accommodation : based in Toowong, this service provides:
- support and accommodation for young pregnant and parenting women under 25 years who are homeless;
- supervised care for young mothers and babies;
- short-term semi-independent living Nundah, Toowong.
