Toowoomba Social Services
A broad range of social services are available through Spiritus Social Services Toowoomba including
- bereavement support which provides sensitive, fully confidential individual and group support;
- Resident Support Project which works to assist residents with a disability who live in private hostels and boarding houses to link with resources and supports to improve their health and well-being;
- Community Visitors Scheme offering friendship for the lonely and socially isolated in aged care facilities;
- Knitting Circle which provides social interaction for people who like to knit, crochet or sew. The blankets, toys and clothing are then made available to those who need them;
- Refugee Settlement Support which assists people to develop knowledge and skills and locate suitable accommodation so they can begin to build their life in the Toowoomba community;
- Soup in the Hall providing free soup and sandwiches for anyone in need from 11.00am until 1.00pm on Sundays at St Lukes Hall Toowoomba;
- Transcare provides social and medical transport for older people, people with disabilities and their carers. All transport is provided by a dedicated team of volunteers.
- Social support is also available to assist clients on group bus outings, individual support, and telephone support;
- Community Connections Program can assist people, with individual funding from Disability Services Qld, to enhance their lives through formation of sustainable social, vocational, educational and community links, and achievement of socially valued roles within the community.
