Meilene means “welcome” or “come to my place” in the language spoken by the indentured labourers from the Pacific Islands who cut cane on the original property. The homestead, “Meilene”, was purchased by the Bundaberg Anglican Parish and Spiritus Meilene was opened in 1996.
