Homeless Outreach Program
Helping people in public places to get back on track …
This vital program is provided by Spiritus Community Care Brisbane South in the local community, delivering caring services to HACC eligible individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, irrespective of their age, ethnicity or gender.
Spiritus staff are passionate about providing every single one of their clients with the highest quality healthcare services possible, and specialised, professional nursing and psychological care and support is available to people in all circumstances from all backgrounds.
Our Homeless Outreach Program provides nursing and wound care, a variety of health checks, referrals to GPs and other healthcare providers, and a specialist intensive support service, which can include assistance and support with detoxification, counselling and rehabilitation.
We can talk with our clients about a diverse range of issues, such as warrants and fine checks, providing referrals to relevant bodies, offering advocacy and support as requested or needed.
Where we work
Our clients will find us working in parks and other public places, community agencies, clinics and drop-in centres, as well as visiting hostels and guesthouses, and providing specialist support through other Spiritus services which may operate in their area.
Spiritus staff work closely with government departments, healthcare professionals and other community agencies, such as housing and accommodation services, Legal Aid, Drug Arm and Centrelink, at a wide range of locations throughout their respective service coverage areas.
Spiritus gratefully acknowledges the funding support provided to these programs by Home And Community Care (HACC) and the Queensland Government.
