Nestled in leafy undulating grounds on a hilltop in Buckland Rd, Nundah, Spiritus' Tufnell Child Care Centre provides a unique natural environment for children’s play and learning experiences.

Tufnell is a Community Based, not-for-profit Long Day Care Centre catering for children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years.  Opened in February 1998, Tufnell now occupies what was once the Toddler’s section of the Tufnell Children’s Home.  Spiritus, the community services agency of the Anglican Diocese of Brisbane is responsible for the management of the centre.

At Tufnell Child Care Centre we believe that children learn best through play, which occurs in a child centred environment where children and their families are respected and treated as individuals.  Through periods of uninterrupted play in a supportive, natural, flexible environment children are able to develop to their full potential in all developmental areas.

At Tufnell we provide children in each age group with their own indoor and outdoor play area which allows imaginative play to grow and develop without having to worry about constraints on space or time, or if another child (older or younger) is going to come and take over.

Timber boxes, planks and tyres become mountains to climb, tunnels to crawl through and cars to drive.  By using real-life materials that blend in with the natural environment of the centre the children are able to experiment and expand their imaginations.

Picture your child cosily curled up in a nest of cushions at story time – OR – running like the wind in the spacious outdoor play area under large shady trees with a gentle breeze to cool their faces on a hot summer’s day.

With qualified staff and higher staff to child ratios than required by licensing, Tufnell is truly a place of warmth, fun, friendship and homeliness that has enveloped generations of children and their families.  We look forward to continuing this care for many more in the future.
