Spiritus Symes Grove Independent Living Villas are co-located on spacious grounds at Taigum, with Symes Grove and St Martin’s residential aged care services.

This landscaped village has been shaped to suit those who are 70 years or over and independent.  The Village offers a safe and carefully planned environment with the residents’ needs in mind, such as ensuring all roads and paths are suitable for easy walking.

The first section of Symes Grove opened in 1962 and was largely financed from the estate of P J Symes. The second stage opened in 1970 and was mostly financed from the estate of Wade Brown. The memory of these two benefactors is perpetuated through the naming of areas of Symes Grove.
Currently Spiritus is building a new section of 28 Villas to add to the existing fifteen villas on site.

The villas are single storey with flat access and no stairs, and all are protected by an emergency call system.

Surrounded by communal gardens, each villa has its own garden for residents to grow and maintain their preferred plants.

Eligibility

Those who are aged 70 years or older.

Accreditation

Spiritus Symes Grove is accredited by Aged Care Queensland through the Retirement Village Accreditation scheme.

Activities available at Spiritus Symes Grove Villas:

Residents enjoy complete independence in their lives but also have the option of joining in some of the activities arranged for residents of the main Symes Grove complex, such as our weekly concerts and church services

Additional services available at Spiritus Symes Grove Villas:

• Doctor visits on-site twice a week
• Cleaning and catering can be provided as needed for a small additional cost
• Anglican and other denominational church services
