Spiritus's Logo

Nalingu

“Your meeting place”

Nalingu means you and me. The centre’s logo, the possum, is one of our best known animals and is closely associated with the Gungurri Tribe originally from the Mitchell area in Western Queensland. We have auspiced the Nalingu Indigenous Centre since 2002.

Today Nalingu exists as a meeting place for indigenous people now living in the Brisbane North area.

The centre’s facilities have been designed to meet the social, physical, cultural and spiritual needs of its people.

Our approach is simple – to care for the well-being of our aged and disabled ina way which is consistent with our spiritual, cultural and social character. Trained staff are on hand to assist in a range of areas, particularly in home care, transport and day outings.

The centre also promotes cultural activites and social support.

Quality Assurance

We are fully accredited by the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards and our staff receive ongoing education and professional development to ensure we continue to meet the changing health care needs of our community.

Volunteers

Our service is enhanced by the assistance of our dedicated volunteers, who offer their time and expertise with social support, assisting with group activities (outings, day respite) or by providing office-based support in our branch.
