Spiritus, the Anglican not-for-profit organisation which provides care and support services predominantly across Southern Queensland and also provides services in Far North Queensland, has appointed Della Warren as its new Executive Director.
Ms Warren moves from her position as Spiritus’ Director of Community & Aged Care to lead the organisation.
“Spiritus plays an extremely important role in the wellbeing of many Queensland communities, providing vital social services programs in collaboration with community and government agencies, and fully accredited residential aged care and independent living opportunities,” Ms Warren said.
“I look forward to continuing the good work of Spiritus and increasing the level of services to the community.”
Ms Warren’s background is rich in community and primary care, working in the fields of public health, community nursing and allied health services, social services including adult and child protection, and community development.
Ms Warren brings to the position extensive senior experience having provided leadership for community clinical services including nursing, allied health, social care and medical services in the UK and Australia.
In 2008, she moved from the UK to take up a post with Queensland Health as Nurse Director Profession & Practice in the Office of the Chief Nurse. In this role she provided strategic nursing and midwifery leadership across Queensland, including ministerial advice and briefings to the state Health Minister.
She also held the portfolio for advancing clinical practice, research, and evidence-based learning.
Ms Warren joined Spiritus as Director of Community Care in 2008 and became Director Community & Aged Care in 2009 where she was responsible for the Community and Residential network of more than two thousand staff state-wide including nurses , therapists, carers, and other practitioners.
In the UK she held various positions within a large primary care trust including senior clinical roles, leading service redesign and successfully leading major system reforms across primary and secondary care services serving large populations.
She was also a Leaders Fellow with the National Health Foundation and still retains association with teams of senior personnel driving health and social reform in the UK.
Ms Warren has been keynote speaker at leading conferences both in Australia and overseas. She holds a, BA in Health Care and Master of Arts in Clinical Leadership and is currently undertaking a research based PhD at The University of Queensland
