"Becoming a volunteer has made such a difference to my life."    Spiritus Volunteer

At Spiritus our vision is to create a more caring, just and inclusive society consistent with the teachings of Christ.

Spiritus Volunteers make it possible to:

  • expand the reach of our services and programs
  • achieve our goals
  • enhance the lives of those we support
  • share skills, experience and ideas
  • connect with the community
  • teach, engage, involve

Any age, background, faith or skill...

Volunteers working in Spiritus are an integral and valued part of the Spiritus team contributing to the work of our aged care facilities, community programs, social services, and infrastructure support services.

They are students, retirees, Centrelink recipients, skilled professionals, members of the church, baby boomers, young people, unemployed, or coprorate volunteers.  They are between 16 and 85 years of age and are motivated to volunteer for different reasons.

Some are seeking skill development, or an avenue to gain experience; others to actualise a passion, make a contribution, to gain a sense of belonging and meaning or do something worthwhile.

Enriching our service...

Volunteers work across many sections of our organisation with a focus on administration, aged care, community and social services.

They work in a range of established roles such as transport, bus driving, home visiting, pastoral care and befriending the elderly.

They assist with activities, health programs, adminstration, IT support, tutoring with migrants, youth or those from a non-English speaking background.

Volunteers can also assist with project work using skills to assist our paid staff to complete a short term project in one of our support services such as human resources, IT, fundraising or marketing.

Corporate volunteering is an evolving theme.  We are keen to explore corporate opportunities with businesses that encourage staff involveemnt in community volunteering.  We aim to explore ways to work together to enhance services to our community while achieving mutual goals.
